McFen Plant Hire Strengthens Excavator Fleet with Eight New Kubota Machines

Boss Plant Sales Ltd is delighted to have completed the supply of eight new Kubota excavators to London-based McFen Plant Hire, further strengthening the company’s fleet with the addition of six Kubota U50-5 excavators and two Kubota KX085-5 excavators.

Established in 2003, McFen Plant Hire provides self-drive and operated plant equipment to customers across London and the South East, supporting the construction, civil engineering and related industries. With a strong focus on providing safe, reliable and well-maintained equipment, the latest investment will further enhance McFen’s ability to meet the requirements of its growing customer base.

The order consists of:

  • 6 × Kubota U50-5 5-tonne excavators
  • 2 × Kubota KX085-5 8-tonne excavators

Both models are well suited to the demands of busy construction and civil engineering projects. The U50-5 combines a compact reduced-tail-swing design with impressive digging performance and operator comfort, making it particularly suited to sites where space is limited.

At the larger end of the order, the KX085-5 provides the additional power, reach and digging capability required for more demanding applications, while retaining the manoeuvrability needed on congested urban sites.

The deal was managed personally by Boss Plant Sales Managing Director, Graham Stansfield, working closely with McFen to ensure the machines supplied met the requirements of its expanding hire fleet.

Graham Stansfield, Managing Director of Boss Plant Sales Ltd, commented:

“It’s fantastic to complete this latest order with McFen Plant Hire and to see another established hire business investing in Kubota equipment. McFen has built a strong reputation across London and the South East, and we’re delighted that Boss Plant Sales has been chosen to support the continued development of their excavator fleet.

“The combination of the U50-5 and KX085-5 gives McFen two extremely capable machines that are ideally suited to the type of construction and civil engineering projects their customers undertake. We’re looking forward to supporting the team at McFen with these new machines and continuing to build our relationship moving forward.”

The investment also complements McFen’s existing excavator offering, which covers machines from smaller compact excavators through to larger equipment, allowing the company to cater for a wide variety of applications across its customer base.”

James Fennessy, Operations Manager of McFen Plant Hire, added:

“We’re continually looking at ways to strengthen our fleet and ensure we can provide our customers with modern, reliable and productive equipment. The addition of the six Kubota U50-5s and two KX085-5s is an important investment for us and gives us additional capacity across two very popular weight classes.

“Kubota has an excellent reputation within the industry, and throughout the process Graham and the team at Boss Plant Sales have worked closely with us to make sure we had the right machines for our requirements. We’re looking forward to putting the new excavators to work across London and the South East.”
